About the Temple

Located in Kollur, Udupi district, this is one of the most powerful Shakti Peethas in India. The goddess appears in a combined form of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati (Tripurasundari).

History: The temple dates back to the 8th century and is associated with the sage Kola Maharishi. The temple was expanded by the Vijayanagara rulers and the Keladi Nayakas.

Significance: This is one of the 7 Muktistala (liberation) temples of Karnataka. The goddess is believed to grant knowledge, wealth, and protection. The temple has a unique pyramidal structure with gold-plated kalasha.
