Sri Padmavati Devi Temple
About the Temple
Located at the foot of the Tirumala hills in Tiruchanur, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Padmavati, the consort of Lord Venkateswara. It is believed that marriage of Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavati took place here.
History: According to legend, Goddess Lakshmi was born as Padmavati, the daughter of King Akasha Raja. Lord Venkateswara married her at this location. The temple is closely associated with the Tirumala temple and is visited by millions of pilgrims.
Significance: It is one of the most important Shakti Peethas in South India. Without visiting Tiruchanur, the pilgrimage to Tirumala is considered incomplete.
