About the Temple

A historic temple located atop a small hillock in Visakhapatnam. The goddess is depicted in a seated posture holding a lotus, with elephants anointing her. The temple offers panoramic views of Visakhapatnam city and the Bay of Bengal.

History: The temple was built in the 14th century by the Reddy dynasty. The goddess is believed to have appeared here to bless the local fishing community.

Significance: The temple is considered one of the most powerful Shakti temples on the east coast. Devotees believe praying here brings wealth, prosperity, and protection.
