About the Temple

A massive temple built on a 4.5-acre site in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Built as a replica of the Puri Jagannath Temple, it is one of the largest Jagannath temples outside of Puri. The temple complex includes a huge Ratha for the famous Rath Yatra.

History: The temple was constructed in the 20th century with contributions from the Puri Jagannath Temple and the Odisha government. The foundation stone was laid in 1997 and the temple was opened to the public in 2009.

Significance: The temple hosts the annual Rath Yatra which pulls the massive 45-foot chariot through the streets of Hyderabad. The temple is a center of Odia culture in Hyderabad.
