Sri Subrahmanya Swamy Temple (Amaravathi)

About the Temple

Located in Amaravathi, the ancient capital of the Satavahanas, this temple is dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya. The Shiva temple here (Amareswara) is one of the five Pancharama Kshetras.

History: The temple dates back to the 2nd century BCE during the Satavahana period. The Shiva linga here is believed to have been established by Lord Indra.

Significance: Amaravathi is one of the Pancharama Kshetras (five sacred Shiva temples in Andhra). The Kumara Purnima festival attracts thousands of devotees.
