Adhyaya 31 - Pitryajna (Sacrifice to Ancestors)

This Adhyaya describes the various rites for the ancestors (pitris), including the daily Tarpanam (water offering) and the periodic Shraddha ceremonies. The mantras guide the living in maintaining their connection with their departed ancestors and describe the journey of the soul after death. The chapter also describes the three paths of the departed souls.
