Adhyaya 19 - Pravargya (The Preliminary Rite)

The Pravargya is an independent rite that precedes the Soma sacrifice. This Adhyaya describes the preparation of the Mahavira vessel, the boiling of milk in it as a symbolic offering, and the accompanying mantras. The Pravargya represents the cosmic heat (tapas) from which creation emerges and is seen as a mikrokosmos of the universe.
